The purpose of these newsletters was to provide match reports, notice of upcoming events (pie-nights, the annual ball, the AGM, the beseeching requests from the Club Treasurer for members to pay their annual subscriptions and so on. These were distributed at training, at the Gresham and the Mayfair and games. They were first produced by Chris Foster who passed the responsibility for the production onto Mike Salvaris and thence to others. Remember, these newsletters were the major form of communication around the Club in the days preceding photocopying, telephone answering machines, mobile phones, the Internet and so on

The newsletters are products of their time and may seem a bit dated (eg the occasional column on wedding sweepstakes). In general, however, they provide an insight, albeit a limited one, into what young rugby players (many, but not all of which, were or had been at university) were up to.
